Fragrance & Flavour Development Centre (FFDC) has been set-up in the
year 1991 by Government of India
(MSME-DO) with
the assistance of UNDP / UNIDO and Government of Uttar Pradesh.
FFDC
aims to serve as an interface between essential oil, fragrance and
flavour industry and the R & D institutions both in the field of Agro
Technology and chemical technology. Main objective of the centre is to
serve, sustain and upgrade the status of farmers and industry engaged in
the aromatic cultivation and its processing, so as to make them both in
local and global market.

FFDC
Extension Unit, Kanpur FFDC is running an Extension Unit in Kanpur, U. P. to provide more
services in more specified ways to get reach to more people.
Extension Unit of FFDC comprises:
- Herbal garden comprising of more than 25 varieties of medicinal
& aromatic crops
- Land : About 0.5 acre
- Two small rooms.
- Summercible pumps for irrigation purpose.
- Shed of area 20 ft. x 15 ft.
FFDC Extension Unit, Kanpur involves in following activities
- Maintenance of Herbal Garden
A herbal garden of aromatic and Medicinal Plants in 0.5 acres of
land being maintained at Extn Unit, Kanpur for demonstration to
farmers, entrepreneurs and visitors coming to the centre.
- Semi Commercial Scale cultivation
Semi Commercial Scale cultivation is carried out by Extension
Unit, Kanpur.
In 2010-2011, semi commercial cultivation of Lemon grass, Safed
Musali and Aloe-vera each in 0.12 acres of land has been taken up
for assessing suitability of agro-climatic conditions and extension
of the crop in the area. The results are quite encouraging.
- Consultancy Assistance rendered
Entrepreneurs, Farmers and Students are assisted by unit to provided
assistance on cultivation, processing, training and marketing of
FFDC products. In 2010-2011 360 entrepreneurs and farmers have been
assisted.
- Motivation/ Awareness programme organized/ participated
Officers of the centre coordinated and participated in
motivations cum awareness programmes organized by different
agencies.
In 2010-2011 officers of the centre coordinated and participated in
4 motivations cum awareness programmes.
- Training Programme Organized
Extension Unit is involve in Organising of training/awareness
programme for the benefits of all who are interested in aroma,
flavour and fragrance industry. 2010-2011, three different training
programmes with limited resources like Agarbatti & Dhoopbatti
Manufacturing and Cultivation of Aromatic and Medicinal Crops & its
primary Processing successfully organized at Extn unit , Kanpur. In
which 63 participants were participated in the programme.
- Marketing of F.F.D.C, Products -
FFDC Extension Unit, Kanpur is involve in marketing services &
different products of F.F.D.C. to various entrepreneurs. In
2010-2011 we marketed 73 Kg. Fragrances and 32 Kg. Flavours
- Samples received for Analysis
We assist in collection samples of various essential oils from
different part of the country for the analysis. In 2010-2011 a total
numbers of 20 samples of various essential oils were received from
different part.
- Participation and Paper presented in the
National/International Conferences/Seminars.
Time to time we participate & present paper in
national/international conference/seminars. In 2010-2011 We
participated & presented a paper on “Toxic Effects of Synthetic
Chemicals on Human Body used in Perfumery Industry” at
Green-Chem-2010 organized by V.S.S.D.College, Kanpur. and
participated in the programme organized by U.P. Export Promotion
Bureau (U. P.. Government) on “Export Marketing Procedure &
Documentation”.
Distinguish Visitors - in 2010-2011
Hon’ble Sri Sri Prakash Jaiswal, Minister of Coal, Govt. of India
visited Extn unit , Kanpur as Chief Guest of Valedictory function in
which Sri Ramakant Harlalka, M.D.M/S Sugandhim & Hon’ble member of
Governing council of the F.F.D.C. also preside over the programme.
Hon’ble Sri Sri Prakash Jaiswal also appreciated the activities and
training programme organized by the centre.
Sri. R.N.Trivedi , Retd I.A.S. & Director Coal India Ltd. also
visited the centre as Chief Guest of the Valedictory function of the
training programme. |
